For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in food and learned to love cooking, experimenting with and tasting food. Those who know me, know that if they hear a cry or a murmur of ‘yum alert!’, then something delicious this way comes! Over the years, as my food and nutrition knowledge and expertise have broadened, yum alert might refer to something I’ve spotted that not only looks or sounds delicious, but gives me the sensation that it is going to do something good for me too, to nourish me in some way; to alert my mind, strengthen my body, make me feel satisfied, healthy, refreshed, comforted or energised….or just completely indulged!

Having initially completed a degree in Psychology, I worked for many years for the NHS in the fields of mental health, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. Along the way I gained a postgraduate qualification in Primary Care Mental Health and also trained as a Level 2 Gym Instructor. My interests in food, cooking, fitness, wellbeing and nutrition led me to study Nutritional Therapy, graduating from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in 2011.

Originally from Kent and having moved from London to Shropshire in 2012, I now live in Ludlow with my family. Living in the countryside helps me to achieve something I talk about a great deal in my work – balance and variety. It is a great place to access wonderful fresh, seasonal and local food, meet inspiring and creative people and to be outdoors and exercise, inhale some fresh air and clear the mind. If you don’t bump into me out walking with Brian the Dog, you’ll find me in the kitchen!
